Justification
According to Jornal de Angola on September 7, 2019, every fourth Angolan citizen does not know how to read or write, which represents a high rate of illiteracy, revealed the Minister of State for Social Area, Carolina Cerqueira.
In 2017, Angola had 25 percent illiterate people, of the 25 million 789 thousand 24 inhabitants, who are illiterate, according to the Secretary of State for Pre-School and General Education, Joaquim Cabral (Angop, 17 November 2017) .
Around ten million citizens, including children and adults, are without birth registration, according to revelations made by the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, which demonstrate the seriousness of the situation (Jornal de Angola, May 2, 2019).
Accordingly, the General Population and Housing Census “Definitive Results” of 2014 shows that:
53% of the resident population aged 0-4 does not have a Civil Registration;
34% of the resident population aged 15 or over who cannot read and write (Literacy);
48% of the population aged 18 or over has not completed any level of education.
Our Objectives:
Develop basic literacy programs;
Train children in practical skills that they can use to earn a living;
Support children with professional guidance and scholarships;
Support educators who work with children;
Insert children into society;
Value entrepreneurs of all ages;
Raise awareness about savings, employment institutions, work and social provision.
Provide study visits to state institutions and private organizations;
Develop extracurricular activities (theatre, music, cinema, excursions, visits, lectures, colloquiums…).
We believe that with this project:
Reduction in the community's crime rate;
Reduction of the community's illiteracy rate;
Reduction of the employer literacy deficit;
Reduction of unemployment;
Reduction of Dependence on the State and parents;
Benefits:
An improvement in educational quality;
Children in the education system;
Children with other means of support;
Lower school dropout rate;
Integration of children into society.
Pre-adolescents, aged between 9 and 18 years old, are illiterate and stateless (without civil registration), the majority are male (in the period at night we identified female teenagers selling various products), and Entrepreneurs come from other neighbourhoods.
