Morro Bento Neighborhood Day is celebrated in Angola, in the municipality of Luanda on June 18th.
The celebration takes place in the Morro Bento neighbourhood and is an initiative of the Morrao Association.
Because the first Decree that describes the Morro Bento neighbourhood was Decree No. 10/99, of June 18th, which detaches from the perimeter of the Luanda-Sul program, the demarcated perimeter of the Futungo de Belas and transfers support services to the President of the Republic, all surface rights over land within the demarcated perimeter of the Futungo de Belas. In this 1999 Decree, we realized that it was the first time in a document official, the appearance of the Morro Bento neighbourhood, in its article 1. It is detached from the perimeter of the Luanda-Sul program the demarcated perimeter of Futungo de Belas, with the following map of confrontations:
a) to the North with the Corimba neighbourhood, in an extension of 3,450.05m;
b) to the south with the Talatona Building, with an extension of 3,381.91m;
c) to the East with the Morro Bento Sector, with an extension of 4,334.28m;
d) to the West with the Maritime Coast, an extension of 6,289.382m.
“Mbulu” (the old name of the Morro Bento neighbourhood), in the Kimbundu language means “hunger” or “Wild dog”.
We tried to find out the origin of the name of the Morro Bento neighbourhood, but we were unsuccessful. We took a risk with the support of the Houaiss Electronic Dictionary of the Portuguese Language 2.0a – April 2007, the word “Morro” is a small elevation on a plain; small pile; hill, outeiro or even considered a “favela” (group of popular housing), and the word “Bento” is who was blessed; blessed. The neighbourhood can mean “Blessed Lands”, “Blessed Dwellings”, “High Point” and other meanings.
The Morrao Association hereby requests support to hold the Charity Show, which takes place every year on the 18th of June, at Shopping Avennida.
The objectives of this activity are:
Rescue moral values within our society (lectures, advice, awareness, etc.);
Donations to orphanages, homes for the elderly, disadvantaged villages, and reception centres;
Encourage love for the country in building a collective consciousness of progress.
Recover the spirit of solidarity to strengthen the bonds of unity of the entire Angolan people.
The event will have a garbage collection campaign, solidarity soup, lectures and a show, everything depends on us. In order to reach 500 participants!
It will be 100% of a solidarity nature, without any profit motive, as is the scope of the association, it will be the highest point of activities, called “show, it all depends on us”.
Due to the current economic and financial state of the world, we find it very difficult to obtain sponsorship from local businesspeople, in this context, we saw that the only way to be able to carry out the show, our donations to the most needy is to take a little from everyone, to So we think of something that attracts all layers of society, culture, music, dance, theatre, etc.
Access to the show by the public will be through the exchange of various goods such as food, clothing, cleaning products, school supplies, toys or cash, highlighting that all money raised will be reverted into goods to be donated, with subsequent accounting justifications...
The artists and new talents will be from the Morro Bento community. There may be room for a special guest.
